This section guides you through the process of creating and using Personal Access Tokens (PAT) to integrate with the Code Review Agent (CRA) in GitLab.

By following these steps, you'll be able to generate a PAT, which is necessary for authenticating and linking your GitLab account with CRA.

The guide is divided into two parts:

Add PAT to CRA: This section explains how to add the generated PAT to CRA for seamless integration.

By completing these steps, you'll ensure that CRA has the necessary authentication to access and interact with your GitLab repositories for code reviews.

Create your Personal Access Tokens (PAT)

Code review agents need to use the GitLab API to perform operations such as:

Comment on Merge Request
Check diff/code

To perform these operations, the agent needs to be authenticated via GitLab Personal Access Token (PAT).

To create your Personal Access Tokens, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to your GitLab account.

Step 2: Click on your avatar (top right) → Edit profile

Step 3: Navigate to Access Tokens → Click "Add new token" button

Step 4: Fill in the form

Name: agent-review-code (or something descriptive)
Expiration date: (optional, but recommended for security)
Scopes – Code Review Agent needs the following permissions to function properly.

Step 5: Create and save PAT

Click Create personal access token
Copy and store the token immediately – it won't be shown again.

Add PAT to CRA

Access Code Review Agent → Click Manage Tokens → Create New Token → Paste the PAT created above → Submit
